Discover Roseto

Matera

The city is on the way from Bari Airport to Roseto, so if your flight arrives in the morning, be sure to take the time to see it!

Don't miss: Don't miss: Sassi di Matera, a complex of cave dwellings, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. The caves were inhabited since prehistoric times, until 1956, without water, electricity, or sewers, along with their animals, and eventually became the country's largest slum.

At that time, the government relocated the population to newly built houses.

Today, the Sassi is Italy's largest open-air museum.

Matera was the European Capital of Culture in 2019.

Facts exploring the Csupakő old town is a great experience, closed shoes are recommended! If you can't handle the stairs, you will unfortunately miss the most exciting parts, even though there are 60 cave temples, 20 built churches, and more than 2,300 cave dwellings in the area.

Tips: in summer the heat is merciless among the stones, sightseeing is a real survivor experience, not recommended for small children or the elderly. Matera is most pleasant from October to April.

Matera is a great authentic location for filming, such as

James Bond: No Time to Die (2021) and Resurrection (expected 2026)

Alberobello

If you want to see something truly special in Italy, the trullos are a must-see. Conical,. Kwhitewashed cottagesthat look as if they have stepped out of the pages of an old storybook - these are the trullos, and they are not only special to look at, but also because of their architectural solutions, their history and the mysterious symbols on their roofs. They are built without any binder or mortar, only from dry-laid limestone.kből.

Alberobello is a special journey through time, where you feel as if you are walking in a fairy tale village, or perhaps a white Smurf village.

Although they look similar from the outside, each trullo is actually a unique creation. The master builders did not work with templates - each cottage was adapted to the shape of the available stones and the characteristics of the environment. This is how the special sight that enchants you when walking through the streets of Alberobello was born.

Alberobello, which is the only town with entire streets and neighborhoods made up of these houses, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996 and is now one of the most visited places in southern Italy.

Morano Calabro

One of Calabria's most unspoilt and impressive historical towns is Morano Calabro;with medieval structures, leaning houses that form the side of a hill with the 2000-meter (!) peaks of the Pollino in the background.

The dark-skinned male head in its coat of arms refers to the Saracen presence around the 10th century, and the fortress on the hill, which is also the most interesting sight, dates back to this period.

Castello Normanno-Svevo, located at the highest point of the city, below it the medieval buildings and small streets exude a magical atmosphere - in its center is Piazza del Popolo, which is the city center and the meeting place of the locals

Every May, the village prepares for the feast of their patron saint, San Bernardino, with a three-day event: the Flag Festival, a reenactment of the battle of 1096 and a symbol of togetherness. An unforgettable program in a stunning setting!

Rocca Imperiale

The settlement was probably founded in the 11th century. It was named after the castle built by II. Frigyes The “fortress” itself rises above the old town, and the town lies at the foot of the Castello: at the foot of the fortress, the houses are divided into floors, separated by streets and steep slopes, like a pyramid that slopes gently towards the sea from above.

The historic center dates back to the Middle Ages. You can visit the church of San Nicola di Bari, built in the 16th century, but you can also see several palaces built by the city's patricians.

The city is a true hidden treasure, the beauty of which has not yet been discovered by tourism, so travelers can enjoy truly authentic, southern Italian experiences.

Tipin the restaurant next to the churchyard you can enjoy great local dishes, with a cozy, checkered tablecloth and delicious local wines.

Montegiordano

The village near Roseto is located on the Ionian Sea coast and has two distinct parts: the old town (Montegiordano Centro), which is located at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level, and the coastal areas (Marina).

The first mention of the settlement dates back to the beginning of the 12th century. According to archaeologists, it was already inhabited in ancient times, and according to tradition, Pythagoras also visited the region.

The colorful murals on the exterior walls of the houses create a special atmosphere in the village, sometimes providing the visitor with an astonishing experience.

Metaponto

etaponto is a seaside resort in the Basilicata region ,on the Ionian coast, known for its shallow sandy beaches. The area has a rich history, as it was an important Greek colony, and the remains of the ancient city, including the temple of the goddess Hera, still stand here today.

The structure served as a sacred place for one of the local Greek colonies, Metapontum The Doric-style temple is located 3 km north of the city center and is an important monument of local Greek culture.

The ruins are located next to the SS106 main road from Bari to Roseto, in a visitor park - just 100 meters off the road, it is definitely worth seeing up close. It is stunningly beautiful in the evening light.

Oriolo

Oriolo vitathatatlan szimbóluma a nemrég felújított fellegvár, ahonnan pazar kilátás nyílik a környékre. Termeiben interaktív kiállítás található.

A kastéllyal szemben áll a középkori falu másik építészeti nevezetessége, a pompás San Giorgio anyatemplom. Az épület normann eredetét a központi bejáratot őrző két monumentális oroszlán jelenléte bizonyítja, amelyek 1264-ből származnak.

Oriolo megkapta a narancssárga zászlót, mely egy minőségi turisztikai jelzés, melyet az Olasz Turisztikai Klub ítél oda olyan olasz kisvárosoknak, melyek kiváló kínálatukkal és minőségi vendégszeretetükkel tűnnek ki - mindezt a fenntartható turizmzus jegyében.

Tipkihagyhatatlan látnivaló a Szent György templomban őrzött ereklye, mely paolai Szent Ferenc nagylábujja...
